Surgical anatomy of the rectum

Rectal surgery has been traditionally associated with sexual and urinary complications [1,2]. This conception has changed significantly over the past decades, with the addition of evidence that an anatomical dissection following embryological plans leads to similar oncological results but with a significant increase in quality of life.
